A thousand words are spoken but the hundred words that are not spoken

It has been a rollercoaster of emotions the last couple of weeks. I realised that I need to trust God more and I also need to put into practise what I say to others even more so.

I also realise that most times we see part of the picture but not the full picture and in cases when we do not see the full picture we need to learn to trust that God has and sees the bigger picture.

I have had to reflect on why I doubt when I have so many situations and testimonies of what God has done in the past.

He makes a way in small problems and he makes a way in big problems.

He tells me to trust him and I do until there are obstacles or hindrances and things do

not seem to be going the way I planned or expected then my trust starts to waiver and the enemy sees me wavering and immediately sees an opportunity to bombard my mind with all the reasons why I should believe that this is the beginning of a disaster.

A wise person told me recently to just “breathe.” Basically, take a breath before you start panicking or think the worse. And I did. I took a breath and another and instead of reacting to the situation I allowed myself to react to God. I paused and looked at the situation with God’s eyes and immediately I felt a calmness and peacefulness that I did not have before. Yes the problem was still there but I was not reacting to it. I started seeing it differently because I was no longer seeing it as this obstacle or setback but I was seeing it as God showing me something, creating an opportunity for me to trust him.

I knew that what I was doing was led and directed by God and I was not doing it by myself so this problem, this setback was not a surprise to God. It was a surprise to me but definitely not a surprise to God. If it is not a surprise to God then the answer is already there. It is sorted.

When I reflect on this as a mother who looked after my children when they were young and even as they got older and could do things for themselves I am still there for them. I know that they will not always follow my guidance but when they take a wrong turn or make a mistake I will be there to support them.

I reflect on God, who is my creator, who wants me to prosper in all that I do, who cares for me and is always watching over me. Then I ask myself why am I worrying and panicking? Do I not trust him who has seen me through so many troubles and traumatic events? I need to trust when there are obstacles and hindrances coming my way because good things take some refining to get to the end product. I am far from the end product. The obstacles and hindrances refine me, my character, my thinking. It removes all the impatience, the dependency on self, the ego and all that God doesn’t want and leaves the" me" that God wants and could work with.

I look back at all the trials I have gone through and whilst I have no desire to go through those again, I can see I am a better person than I was before I went through those trials. I am more empathetic, more understanding, I have more meaningful conversations and I dig deeper and look beyond the words that are being spoken when in conversation with friends and family. I also listen and reflect more than I speak as in listening I hear more not just what is being spoken but also what is not being said because sometimes a thousand words are spoken but the hundred words that are not spoken are much more important and meaningful than the thousand words.

I don’t know what you are going through and whether this is for everyone but I believe that there is someone who needs this today and I hope that it blesses and encourages you.

As usual reach and share with me your thoughts on this.
